Understanding the Vital Role of Skilled Copywriters in the AI Landscape
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undeniably revolutionized numerous industries, making significant advancements in areas such as healthcare, finance, and customer service. With the rise of AI-powered tools, some may question the need for real, live copywriters.
With businesses gaining access to affordable tools capable of generating copy, questioning the value of a copywriter is understandable. However, I’m here to share that I’m not stressed about these new programs taking over my role. In fact, I think they are kind of fun!
When you delve deeper into the intricacies of AI, it’s easy to see that these tools are far from a perfect substitute for the creative prowess and human touch offered by skilled copywriters. While they might seem magical, they aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Their limitations challenge businesses to rely solely on AI for their copy needs.
The truth is, copywriters bring a unique value that AI simply can’t replicate.
Let’s dive into a few reasons why AI won’t be replacing copywriters anytime soon. Plus, I’ll share a few tips to help functional and naturopathic doctors maximize their use of Chat GPT.
The Real Truth About AI
I think that we can all agree that AI has come a long way and can process insane amounts of data to churn out human-like copy. But here’s what we should remember: AI learns from existing data and relies on patterns and algorithms.
Sure, it’s great at crunching numbers, recognizing patterns, and automating tasks, but it often falls short when producing creative, nuanced, and emotionally touching content. It’s just not the same as having that human touch.
Here are a few reasons why I think AI won’t be replacing copywriters anytime soon.
Creativity and Originality
AI operates based on patterns and existing data, limiting its ability to generate truly original and creative content. Copywriters can still bring a fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and imaginative storytelling to engage your audience in unique ways.
Emotional Connections
It might go without saying, but AI lacks emotional intelligence, making it challenging to understand and evoke emotions in readers. One of the best things about working with a copywriter is their ability to craft content that resonates emotionally with your audience – helping you build authentic connections while driving engagement.
Contextual Understanding
AI tools struggle to comprehend complex contexts, cultural references, and subtleties that can profoundly impact your content's effectiveness. Medical copywriters deeply understand your practice and audience, enabling them to tailor content accordingly. Even better if they have experience working with other functional or naturopathic practices!
Brand Voice and Consistency
A consistent voice across your copy helps foster brand recognition and trust among your patients. Copywriters play a pivotal role in defining and helping to maintain your brand’s voice, tone, and personality. While AI tools can help you tweak the sound of your copy, they cannot fully replicate and consistently produce brand-consistent copy.
Empathy and Human Insight
Remember, AI tools use existing data, not feelings or emotions, to develop their output. On the other hand, copywriters can empathize with your audience, understanding their needs, aspirations, and pain points. This human insight allows copywriters to create content that genuinely addresses your audience’s concerns and fosters a sense of understanding.
To provide a little insight into me…I’ve had my own health journey and experiences with both functional and naturopathic providers. I believe this brings something unique to my copy because I am literally my client’s ideal patient.
Strategic Thinking and Adaptability
Do you have a specific marketing objective or trend you’re trying to optimize? AI cannot adapt to these types of demands creatively. However, a copywriter can partner with you to align your copy with your specific marketing objectives, adjust messaging based on trends, and optimize for the ever-changing algorithms.
Uniqueness and Personalization
AI-generated content lacks that personal touch and individualized approach a copywriter can provide. You know, those warm and fuzzy feelings you get from a real person. It’s critical to tailor your content to meet the specific needs of different audiences. For example, AI can’t automatically incorporate your unique treatment approaches, preferences, or favorite supplements in its copy.
Quality Assurance and Revisions
Quality assurance and revisions are the biggest things I warn my clients about when it comes to AI-generated copy. AI may generate errors or fail to create copy that reads well. A copywriter can ensure the quality of their work through meticulous proofreading and revisions, guaranteeing error-free and polished content.
Some grammatical issues I’ve seen with AI-generated copy include passive voice, wordy sentences, and improper punctuation.
I believe that AI can be a valuable tool in your arsenal to help support your content creation and optimization. Still, I feel a medical copywriter's distinct strengths and skills can make them indispensable in crafting compelling and impactful copy for your diverse audience.
The Future of AI and Copywriting
AI tools are going to continue to evolve. It’s that simple. But if you can integrate AI tools into your process, you’ll likely continue to find improvements in your productivity and gain valuable insights into the performance of your copy.
Here are some ways that I plan to continue to use AI tools:
Data Analysis: AI tools can process vast amounts of data, providing all of us with valuable insights into audience behavior, preferences, and market trends.
Social Media Planning: AI can generate social media calendars, ideas, and so much more based on your specific audience. This continues to provide value when I feel like I’ve run out of ideas for my social media posts.
Social Media Scheduling: AI-driven tools can schedule and automate social media posts, enhancing content distribution and audience reach.
3 ChatGPT Prompts for Functional and Naturopathic Providers
When using an AI content generator like ChatGPT, it’s important to remember that its output is as good as the prompt you give it. If, for example, you asked ChatGPT to “write a social media post,” who knows what it might come up with. But, if you instead prompt it with: “write an Instagram post in a casual tone and an informative writing style that includes bite-sized tips on superfoods,” you’ll get a very different and likely more helpful response.
Writing prompts that give you the results you are looking for can take time. I encourage you to play around with the tool, keeping in mind its shortcomings. Here are a few things to keep in mind when developing a ChatGPT prompt:
Identify your audience and the platform (ex. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Describe your brand, offering, niche, or topic
Specify if you have a desired word or character length
Include the desired action you’d like your reader to take
Here is an example:
Write an Instagram post about six supplements that can help women manage their PMS symptoms for a functional medicine doctor specializing in women’s health. The description should engage the reader and encourage them to visit the link in my blog to sign up for a consultation call.
While you are working to craft prompts that help you, here are three to get you started:
Generate three Instagram post ideas to create urgency for my [product/service/course].
I need some new and unique ideas for my social media content on [topic] that will encourage women in their [age] to sign-up for my program about [topic], such as photos, videos, or stories.
Write a social media post that encourages [target audience] to sign up for my newsletter in exchange for a free [free resource/offer].
No matter how you decide to incorporate ChatGPT, or any other AI tool, remember that you need to make it yours! Add your voice, specific words you use in your brand, or emojis and hashtags you like. And most importantly, have fun. These tools are meant to help you not add to your workload. If it’s too much, move on!
